Help to the Smoky Mountains
Help to the Smokies is an effort led by BWXT/Y-12, which includes Team UT-Battelle and other Oak Ridge area businesses, to provide and coordinate volunteer workers for rehabilitation projects in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Previous work projects have resulted in a completely rehabilitated Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area, work in the Cosby Campground, ground preparation for and the assembly of a large greenhouse skeleton that was donated to the Park, and the rehabilitation of the Cades Cove Picnic Area. Most recently, on May 1, 2004, the group constructed two campsites (one of which is ADA compliant), installed 2 upright barbeque grills, and constructed access stairs and walkways in the park. | ||
