Step 1: Before you start working on your nomination, please consult with the ORNL Patent Office (contact listed below) to determine whether the intellectual property associated with your nomination has been disclosed and whether ORNL has the rights to it. Then, be sure to answer the questions about intellectual property on the cover page of the R&D 100 work sheet. ORNL may be able to nominate your invention if another organization holds the intellectual-property rights, but a description of ORNL’s role in its development would be needed.

Eligibility: Your invention is eligible for the 2007 competition if it became commercially available or available for licensing between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2006.

Deadline: Your deadline for submitting a first draft is Friday, December 15, 2006. Early submissions are welcome. You will get back a pdf file for review and another deadline for a final revision.

Fees: You are responsible for obtaining the funds to process your entry. Costs include editing and graphics services and the entry fee. The entry fee is $220.00.

The Nomination Form: Please do not use the form found on the R&D Magazine web page. Please use the worksheets available at the following links; they contain information needed specifically for ORNL. You can download a worksheet by choosing your preferred software from the following list and then following steps 1 through 3.

Artwork: Please include pictures that illustrate your invention or its operation. Be sure to submit any outstanding pictures for the cover of your nomination. Also, if possible, supply logos for any joint submitters. In all cases, please send the highest-resolution versions available.
