XP900 freezing

Hello,

Here we have an XP900 which has been running fine for months. On the last 
days, it started to freeze unexpectedly. It stops responding to both remote 
and local access. As seen from the network, it just doesn't respond. On the 
local console, the screen goes black and doesn't respond to keybd or mouse. 
After power cycling, /var/adm/messages shows nothing but the normal boot 
sequence. OS version is 4.0F

Can someone give advice as to how to start diagnose this problem?
