CDE and customized backdrops

Hello managers,

obviously i'm missing something...

I'd like to install some new backdrops for the CDE workspaces:

I created an X11 bitmap file (xbm; with xv), put it in the directory
/usr/dt/share/backdrops and added an (appropriate?) line to the file
desc.C there.

But when i login then, i don't see my new backdrop in the StyleManager
BackdropMenu. Also i could not find any hint for customizing the Style-
Manager in the manpages - or something like "/sbin/init.d/cde stop|start".

Do i need a reboot? Or what am i missing?
