SUMMARY: NIS problem
Thanks for the correct answer which came from:
Matt J. L. Goebel <goebel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:
----------
...
You want to change your /var/yp/Makefile line for YPPUSH from
YPPUSH=$(YPDIR)/yppush
to
YPPUSH=$(YPDIR)/yppush -M
Digital support said that a flag was accidentally left turned on.

There were some "me too"'s, and some other advice from:
Eli Burke <eburke@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
BigRedDog <ckrieger@xxxxxxxxxxx>
Dick Abraham <abrahad@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
(recommends setting up slave server with "Allow local ypset requests only"
to get password changes pushed immediately instead of after about 30 min)
David Warren <warren@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
(recommends listing the NIS master in the missing file)
Mike Iglesias <iglesias@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Larry Griffith <larry@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Francois Zimmermann <Francois.Zimmermann@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
(recommends not to post NIS domain names and NIS server names to a
world-readable mailing list)
Peter Stern <peter@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
