vacation

I have been trying to get vacation set up, but am getting nowhere.  When 
I send to the id with vacation set up I get a bounced mail message:

   ----- Transcript of session follows -----
554 Cannot exec /usr/etc/smrsh
554 "|/usr/bin/vacation amc"... Service unavailable


I did 'vacation -I', my .forward looks like:

\amc, "|/usr/bin/vacation amc"

and .vacation.msg:

From: amc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Subject: I am on vacation

I am gone


I believe that I must be missing something, but I can't find it and I'm 
leaving tomorrow.  Can anyone help?
