RZ26 Drives in BA353 Enclosure

Hello,

We, (as I assume many others may have), received DEC 3000/300 systems with
RZ26L drives. As the, now old, joke goes: the "L" is for "Loud". These
disks produce quite a bit of noise when they are active.

The BA353 enclosure with 2 RZ26 drives happens to look attractive for
an application I have, but I am somewhat leary of purchasing more RZ26
drives and placing them on a user's desktop, only to receive a large amount
of grief from that user and their surrounding neighbors about the noise.

Does anyone have any experience to report about the above combination? I would
also be curious to know if anyone know if DEC ever acknowledged the problem and
came up with a solution.

Thanks for your help.
