I have qmail up and running in my environment and recently discovered that I need to apply a patch (qmail-big-ext-todo.patch). I have installed qmail using the steps in the Life with qmail docs. How do I apply the patch to an already compiled qmail?

Stop the qmail services. Apply the patch to your source tree and hope the patch isn't buggy. Run `make; make setup check`. Restart the qmail services.

And just in case things go south, keep a backup copy of your original source tree around (just make a tarball of it, before you apply the patch).
