Why do you want to do that? There might be "user1" on "domain.de" as
well as "user1" on "otherdomain.com". vpopmail needs a way to decide
between these users, that's why it requires you to use the domain name
when logging in.

vpopmail provides two possibilities to overcome this limitation. Please
read the documentation about "--enable-ip-alias-domains" and
"--enable-default-domain". It's also in FAQ #0 and FAQ #9.
