Password fails using pop3s

Problem:
I set up qmail using smtp,pop3, and pop3s using ssl self-signed
certificate. But authentication fails due to bad passwprd as per this
conversation using fetchmail.

The password is correct being the same one I use for clear text pop3
authentication to the same server. I am not using APOP. I use
checkpassword-0.90. I have tried similarly using kmail and other MUAs
without success, same problem. In order to facilitate your assistance
which I deeply appreciate, I have created a temporary account
