when it was owned by root, delivery could'nt take progress.

do you have one of those installed ? 
Use google to find them, and install one of them which are
suitable for you OS. strace is for Linux, truss PROBABLY for
FreeBSD, and also PROBABLY ktrace is for OpenBSD. But iam
only sure about the first one.

probably you didīnt had anything in rcpthosts then.

where did you install ucspi-tcp ? If in defaults, is
/usr/local/bin in your $PATH ?

yeah, really looks like you are just missing your
tcp.smtp.cdb

this is just qmail-send. The only thing that is out of
interest for you is qmail-smtpd, because the other things
are working.

Well, don't stress yourself to much. Nobody gets everything
at the first try. Give it one more try, and if it doesn't
work, leave it alone for a day, and then restart from
scratch according lwq.
