Ultrix won't boot
Hi,managers,
My Dec station won't boot and wonder whether soneone could advise on
solving the problem.
The workstation is our server which still services several of our users though
we are gradually phasing out these workstations. The version of Ultrix running
is Ver 4.2A.
The workstation suddenly rebooted and the booting process stopped at
the time when the NFS daemon was being started. I have commented out the
the fs 's being mouted from other servers. I also removed the "/etc/exports"
file. But the server still could not be rebooted.
We have not done anything to the network recently except we have restructured
the netgroups in other NIS Domain two weeks ago. The domainwas changed 2 months
ago. But the "/etc/resolv.conf" has been updated. Our old domain was:
ee.cuhk.hk and te new one is : ee.cuhk.edu.hk. Our DNS server serves both
domains.
Furthermore, when the workstation halted when starting the NFS Daemon, I pressed
the reset button at the back of the workstation to restart. Could you please
tell me how to reboot the machine in single user mode?
