Good news: Daniel

Materials Science and Technology Division's Claus Daniel has been awarded the Dr. Eduard Martin Prize from his former university, the Saarland University in Germany. The prize is given to recognize the best young scientists and outstanding dissertations each year. Claus received the award for his dissertation,"Stiffness Scaling of Thin Films using Laser Interference Metallurgy," and for his achievements as a young scientist. In 2002, Claus was awarded the Carl-Eduard-Schulte-Prize by the German Engineering Society, and in 2003, he received the Young Professionals Award from the German Materials Research Society. Claus is currently one of the Lab's a Eugene P. Wigner Fellows.
