Jennifer Palmer
Palmer joined the Technology Transfer and Economic Development Directorate in 2006 to assist with technology transfer and commercialization of ORNL technologies in the energy and engineering sciences portfolio. Since, she has proven a strong aptitude for industry partnerships in technology validation and market introduction in support of economic development and has joined the ORNL Team ED. In this role, she facilitates business development with industry prospects in buildings including energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, serves as the regional economic development liaison for the Roane Alliance, the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce and the Northeast Tennessee Technology Council, provides marketing, communication and outreach in support of TTED, as well as hosts visits of broader interest to ORNL such as the National Conference of State Legislatures, Advisory Council on Energy.
Palmer began her career at ORNL in 1992 and became a staff member in 1999. She joins us from Engineering Science and Technology Division where she performed business development activities focused on energy efficient solutions in residential buildings for US DOE’s Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, Building America Program. She was responsible for communications, marketing and outreach projects. She also has extensive experience in technical exhibits, workshops and meeting planning. Prior to joining ESTD in 2003, Jennifer spent 11 years in the Environmental Sciences Division where her work included environmental research activities in contaminant transport, hydrological and geochemical characterization, and carbon sequestration in terrestrial ecosystems. She holds a BS in Environmental Science, cum laude, with a dual field of concentration in Biology and Chemistry and a MA in Organizational Management with honors from Tusculum College .
Palmer is a member of the Association of University Technology Managers, Licensing Executives Society and the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals. She serves as a current Board Member of the Roane Alliance and is Co-Chair of the Economic and Community Development Committee for the Roane County Chamber of Commerce.
