| Ultra-stable Au nanocatalysts supported by rare earth phosphates nanoparticles and surface-modified nanocrystals Reference Number(s) Laboratory: 170 Docket Number: 1300001486 DOE reference no.(s): 105,087 Abstract This invention disclosure reports the preparation of ultra-stable Au nanocatalysts on the rare earth phosphate nanoparticles and the external-surface modified (nano)crystalline supports. The ultra small Au nanoparticles were deposited on the surfaces of rare earth phosphate nanoparticles or the nanocrystalline supports (e.g. TiO2) modified by the mono/multilayer of selected oxides (e.g. Al2O3). Those ultra-small gold particles were well stabilized by the substrates, resulting in the extremely stable Au nanocatalysts against sintering under high temperature treatments. The stability of Au nanocatalysts presented here under high temperature treatments in O2 is much better than that of the TiO2-supported Au reference nanocatalyst supplied by the World Gold Council as part of an initiative to promote the use of gold in this type of industrial use. The stability of the Au nanocatalysts presented in this invention can not be achieved by any existing Au nanocatalysts.
