Who we are...
- Operation Awareness
visits are carried out by a team of six ORNL and DOE ES&H Experts.
There is very strong senior management support from both ORNL and
DOE. The OAP team includes members from the Operational Safety
Services Division (OSSD) and the Environmental Protection and Waste
Services Division (EPWS).
- An OAP visit
is not an audit or assessment. It is a visit which follows a slow, deliberate,
and thorough process through laboratories, storage facilities, shops,
and offices.
- Although there
is no official driver or requirement to "fix" the observations identified
during visits, there has been a very high percentage of fixes based
on informal correspondence from Directors.
