James "Bo" Taylor -- Bo, called Dv-u-tsv-dv in Cherokee which translates to Comeback in English, belongs to the longhair Clan of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He lives in the Big Cove community of the Qually Boundary near Cherokee, NC. Bo reads, writes, and speaks Cherokee. He is a song leader of both traditional Cherokee songs and contemporary powwow songs. Bo is a traditional Cherokee dancer as well as a champion powwow dancer. He is a story teller and has an extensive knowledge of Cherokee culture and history. Bo regularly gives educational presentations dressed in full Native American Regalia. In these presentations, he encourages audience participation with an emphasis on fun.
Bo received a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology with a minor in Cherokee Studies from Western Carolina University. He currently works as the Archivist/Collections Manager for the Museum of the Cherokee Indian in Cherokee, NC.
Allen Fugate, PE -- Allen belongs to the Longhair Clan of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. He is a Northern Traditional dancer and sings both Northern and Southern powwow songs as well as traditional Cherokee songs. He helped pay for his college education by making traditional Native American crafts and traveling the Powwow circuit with the Blue Earth Singers and Dancers of Cherokee, North Carolina.
Allen holds Bachelors degrees in Architecture and in Chemical Engineering. He is a licensed Chemical Engineer and is presently employed by the Y-12 Engineering Division at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. His primary duties are providing support for the Enriched Uranium Operations. He is a professional member of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). AISES is a private, nonprofit organization which nurtures bulding of community by bridging science and technology with traditional native values.
Romona "Mona" Seminole Carrasco -- Ms. Carrasco is a Native American "Northern Cheyenne" from Montana. She has an associate of arts degree in pre-law and is currently taking classes at the University of Tennessee trying to earn a bachelor's degree in communications. Meanwhile, Mona works full-time as a Program Specialist in Science Engineering Education at the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education.
In 1988, Mona entered the United States Air Force as a Space Systems Equipment Maintenance Specialist (translation-electronics technician). She is currently in the Air National Guard at Mcghee Tyson Air Guard Base, Tennessee.
Mona is married and has three daughters. She lives on a 92-acre farm in Strawberry Plains and raises an assortment of animals such as goats, turkeys, ducks, dogs, cats, and is thinking about raising donkeys.
Francis C. Larvie, President and General Manager of White River Corporation. The White River Corporation is a Native American owned and managed enterprise. The corporation takes its name from the White River, a western tributary of the Missouri River. The White River is located in central South Dakota and flows through lands assigned to the Lakota Sioux Nation in perpetuity by the Treaty of 1868. The Grandparents of the principal owner of White River Corporation settled along the banks of South Dakota's White River when the Rosebud Sioux Reservation was established during the latter part of the nineteenth century. The family ownership of lands adjacent to the White River continues to this day.
Frank has more than 35 years of experience in construction, construction management, engineering and design, and facility operations. He is a graduate of the Montana School of Mines and studied Business Administration at the University of Montana. He has extensive experience in both the government and private sectors.
Frank's work experience covers a broad spectrum of underground work in various geological regimes, both nuclear and non-nuclear facility construction, surface and underground drilling, and environmental remediation. In addition, Frank brings to White River Corporation an exceptionally wide and varied career experience in project and program management.
![]() | Thomas H. Wynn -- Tom Wynn is a Native American "Lumbee Indian" from the eastern part of North Carolina. Tom graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a degree in Biochemistry. This institution was established in 1887 as a Normal Indian School. He also holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology and Business Administration.
In 1964, Tom entered the military service and retired from the United States Army as a highly decorated Colonel. While on active duty, he served three tours in Vietnam. Tom performs as the Manager of the Department of Energy, Oak Ridge Operations, Native American Employment Program and is the Native American point-of-contact at Oak Ridge. Tom and his wife Betty have two children, Paula and Tommy. | ![]() |
Derrick Watchman, a member of the Navajo Nation, is presently the Director of Indian Affairs for the U.S. Department of Energy. His primary responsibility is to advise the Department on issues impacting the Indian Tribes near Department of Energy sites. Previously, Derrick worked for the Wells Fargo Bank Corporation handling Native American banking and financing. Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of the Navajo Nation's Dine Power Authority where he advised on Navajo Nation energy projects. Derrick also held the Navajo Tax Commission Director post with Navajo. He successfully worked to implement the Navajo Nation's authority to tax, particularly on the large resource companies. He also coordinated passage of federal tax incentives that stimulate reservation development. Derrick holds a MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and a Bachelors degree from the University of Arizona. Derrick's Navajo home is near Navajo, New Mexico.
