Poster Contest Guidelines
WIN WITH ABILITY

Entries will be accepted from the following:

Any child whose Parent, Grandparent, or Guardian is employed by DOE, Bechtel Jacobs Company LLC, UT-Battelle, BWXT-Y12, ORAU, ORISE, UT Corporate Connections, Wackenhut Services, Pellissippi State Community College, and all affiliated subcontractors.

Posters will be categorized into the following age groups for judging:

3 - 6 years old
7 - 10 years old
11 - 14 years old
15 - 18 years old

Entries must meet the following guidelines:

  1. Must focus on positive images or messages concerning the ability/contribution of individuals with disabilities
  2. Should be on clean, white, unruled paper/poster board not to exceed 12 X 18
  3. Must be free-hand drawn
  4. Must be original and the artwork done by the child
  5. May be done in ink, paint, crayon, marker, or any combination of these media
  6. No computer-generated artwork will be accepted

Judging Guidelines

  1. Entry must conform to contest rules
  2. Entries will be judged on originality
  3. Entries will be judged in each age category
  4. Entries must meet the theme of the contest
  5. Only one entry per participant will be accepted

    Judges will consist of Bruce McGlasson, Bill Capshaw, (both well-known artists) and Disability Awareness Event Committee Members. Deadline for entries is October 1, 2001, and prizes will be awarded at the celebration event on October 16, 2001.

    All entries must be submitted no later than October 1, 2001, for consideration.

    Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each age group as follows:

    1st Place: $100.00 Savings Bond
    2nd Place: $ 50.00 Savings Bond
    3rd Place: $ 25.00 Savings Bond

    Posters will be displayed during the month of October and at the Celebration event. Posters will be returned on request after October.

    All participants will receive a Certificate of Recognition.
