Roosevelt MerriweatherRoosevelt enlisted in the United States Army in 1972. He served two years in the states before his tour of duty in South Korea from 1974-1975. Roosevelt was assigned to the 2nd Battalion Air Defense Artillery Unit as a Communications Specialist. Roosevelt found his time spent in South Korea an educational experience. It provided him with the opportunity to observe how people with limited resources and limited technological advances could accomplish so much. He was amazed at their skills and their ability to work in harmony with each other. This taught Roosevelt a valuable lesson which he was able to bring back to the states and share with others. Roosevelt says, “As a result, I am proud to have served my country by serving in the United States Army”.

During his spare time, Roosevelt loves to write poetry. His hobbies are watching movies, fishing and traveling.

Roosevelt and his wife, Alice make their home in Oak Ridge. They are the proud parents of three children, Tonya, Marcia and Adrian.
