In 1985, Richard was ranked as one of the top 7 in his advanced individual training for Aviation Class. He was a distinguished Honor Soldier in 1988. During his military career Richard was a UH-1 helicopter crew chief and a supply sergeant over weapons distribution. Richard had attained the military rank of sergeant when he was honorably discharged in 1993. Richard served in the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment, Army National Guard for 10 years.
In his civilian life Richard serves his community with just as much enthusiasm that he served his country. Richard was a member of the Alcoa City School Board in 1996. Richard attended the Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy for Ministry. He is now the chaplain for Blount County Jail and Assistant Director for the Healing Rooms of Blount County. Richard has been the Pastor of Resthaven Missionary Baptist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee for the past 11 ½ years.
Richard and his wife, Doris make their home in Maryville, Tennessee. They have two wonderful children, Richard, 23 and Angel, 19. |
