DOE-ORO, DOE Contractors, and Community Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration
This year's event will be a lunch-time program featuring guest speaker, Ms. Daphne Kwok, followed by a reception featuring ethnic foods from countries represented within the APA community.

Ms. Kwok was recently appointed Executive Director of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational organization seeking to fill the political pipeline for Asian Pacific Americans (APA) to enter and advance into elected office, to build a politically empowered APA community, and to be a resource to Congress about the APA community.

She has held numerous other positions including Executive Director of the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA) and as an appointee of Secretary of Energy Richardson, served on his advisory council. In addition, Ms. Kwok was named one of A Magazine's "One Hundred Most Influential Asian Americans of the Past Decade", among other honors, and has appeared on several television programs, including the NBC today Show, CNN Crossfire, CSPAN, MSNBC, Fox News, and the Montel Williams Show. She has also been a guest on several radio programs and has been quoted in many newspapers and publications. Ms. Kwok has authored several publications, including "250 Ways to Make America Better" from the editors of George Magazine.

Ms. Kwok graduated in 1984 form Wesleyan Asian Studies and Music. In 1989 she received a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch City College of New York.
