March 1, 8:30 a.m. -- Deborah Barnes will make an announcement over the Laboratory PA system to kick-off Women's History Month.

March 1 - 24 -- Who Said What?
March 13 -- Need a hint? You will find some added to the quotes to help you. Again you can submit your answers on the form. (Of course, the prize won't be as good this week.)
March 20-- Still can't identify all the authors? A list of the authors' names will be added, so you can match the quotes to the authors. Again, you can submit your answers via the form. (Still a prize----but not as good as last week.)
Finally, on March 27, the answers will be revealed. (Too late for prizes now.) Also, we will reveal the names of the winners.

March 1-5 -- A display featuring ORNL women will be in the Canteen.
March 1-31 -- A display of Women Inventors, Scientists, etc., will be in the Central Research Library.
March 6-31 -- The display featuring ORNL women will be placed in the Central Research Library.
March 8 -- International Women's Day
March 9-10 -- Women in Science and Technology (WIST) Conference
Sponsored by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science, the WIST conference is designed to support and encourage women in the pursuit of degrees and careers in one of the sciences, engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related technology fields. More than 2,200 college women and high school seniors—along with their professors and high school teachers—have attended this conference in past years.
March 20-24 -- The panels featuring the winners in the YWCA's Tribute to Women will be displayed in the Cafeteria.
In the Tribute held this past October, ORNL nominated five outstanding women: Kristin Breder, Virginia H. Dale, Patricia S. Hu, and Katherine L. Yuracko in the category of Science & Technology and Carolyn A. Campbell in the category of Volunteer Community Service. In addition to these, another ORNL employees, Margaret B. Emmett was nominated by the American Association of University Women in the category of Science & Technology. Four of these individuals, Dr. Breder, Dr. Dale, Ms. Campbell, and Ms. Emmett were named as category finalists. A winner in each category was announced at the banquet on October 28. Carolyn Campbell and Margaret Emmett were named winners in the categories of Volunteer Community Service and Science & Technology, respectively.
March 15 -- Showcase Lecture - "Women in Science: Parasites or Hosts"

Dr. Patton is a Professor of Veterinary Medicine at UT. In 1999, Dr. Patton was named Teacher of the Year by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the highest award given by the Association.
