Hispanic Heritage Awards -- In 1987, a White House task force brought together prominent Hispanics from the private sector and the administration to create an event to highlight Hispanic Excellence. The brainchild of these sessions was the Heritage Awards. NBC will broadcast the Annual Gala Awards Ceremony in major markets on October 2, 1999. Check your local TV listing.
