Book Fair in the Flagpole Lobby, 4500N. Ten percent of all sales will support ORNL's United Way Campaign. A variety of African American literature will be available, as well as other books of interest.

11:45 - 12:15, Storytelling by Linda Goss, author, award-winning storyteller, and playwright. Ms. Goss is the official storyteller of the city of Philadelphia. She and Mary Carter-Smith are the founders of "In the Tradition..." National Black Storytelling Festival and Conference. See her bio for more information on her many achievments.

11:30-12:30 - Book Review by Dr. Celvia S. Dixon, President of C. D. Enterprises-FamFocus and Associate Professor at UT. Her topic will be "Strategies for Achieving Financial Success in the 21st Century." Dr. Dixon will be available to sign her books if you happen to own one. (No books will be sold at the event.)

During this week the Cafeteria will feature special African foods and/or foods with an African-American flair.Recipes will be available all week for employees. African-American art, posters, and artifacts will be displayed.
Tuesday, February 22, Self-service bar for a flat cost.

Wednesday, February 23, BBQ Sauce Tasting Contest. The Cafeteria will furnish meat for sampling; employees will furnish a quart of their favorite bbq sauce; other employees will taste and vote. The top five winners will receive a prize: #1 will receive a cookbook and #2-#5 will receive a free Cafeteria lunch (up to $6.00). Winners will be recognized on ORNL Today and on this web site. If you are interested in providing a quart of your special sauce for the tasting, contact Marilyn Langston (574-8942) or Susie Kuliasha (574-4411)

February 25, GRAND FINALE: Legacy of the Arts
American Museum of Science and Energy
5:00-8:00
Hosted by area government contractors and residents from Oak Ridge and surrounding areas.
The festivities will begin at 5:00 with arts, crafts, face-painting, and storytelling. The featured storyteller for this event is Ms. Linda McNear Goss, a native of Alcoa, who resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she is known as the Official Storyteller of the city.

Other activities will begin at 6:00 with performances by the Watoto dancers from Knoxville, the Roane County Community Choir, the Genesis dance group, the Spiritual Harmonizers, Bill Capshaw, and many more.

This event is open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

ORAU Black History Month 2000 event Song and Spirit: An Anthology of African-American Music featuring local recording artist Wendel Werner, a favorite and frequent performer at local jazz clubs

There will also be a Silent Auction benefiting the "I Have a Dream" Scholarship Fund.
Afterwards, attend a special showing of Ebony Imagery VII from 7:00-8:00 at the Oak Ridge Art Center.
