Lessons
Learned Subscription Service
The Standards-Based
Management System (SBMS), is dedicated to providing tools
that help staff do their jobs more efficiently. The SBMS
Lessons Learned Subscription Service gives you the option to
choose topics for lessons/alerts/advisories that are
applicable to work and home. As Lessons Learned are
generated for the topics you select, an email notification
will be sent that will have a URL from the Lessons Learned
database.

select Web Tools: Change Notification/Subscription Service
(you must have an NTOR account).

Everyone has emergencies and it's only later that we see how
we might have handled things better. For example, a man
recently rented a car at the airport and drove off to a
meeting. Within five minutes he drove into a long, dark
tunnel, and he couldn't find the car's headlight switch – he
spent the next frantic seconds trying not to hit a wall!

Reviewing
Lessons Learned
ORNL managers and staff
conduct Lessons Learned searches for identifying potential
hazards and/or good work practices. Areas for reviewing
Lessons Learned include:
Using information obtained
from reviewing Lessons Learned, managers and staff
incorporate implementing controls into their respective
tasks to mitigate hazards and to carry out work in a safe
and effective manner.
